There are a wide variety of different genres and styles of play available in Collaborative Gaming. Currently, Midsummer Games supports the following systems...
Dungeons and Dragons is a collaborative gaming system set in a high fantasy world of swords and sorcery. Players assume the role of Dwarves, Elves, and other such races and quest for adventure! Experiences might have players exploring the depths of an undiscovered tomb, or task them with protecting a village against a vicious Orc raiding party.
During the game, players will tell the Game Master what they would like to do. The Game Master will then assign a Target Number the player needs to meet in order to succeed in their task. Players roll a twenty-sided-die, add the relevant bonuses from their character sheet to the result, and compare it to the Target Number to determine success or failure. |
The Star Wars Game System by Fantasy Flight is a collaborative gaming system set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Players assume the role of Scoundrels, Rebels, and Jedi Knights in one of three distinct styles of game! Experiences might have players Evacuating a Rebel base, attempting the infamous Kessel Run in the Outer Rim, or seeking Jedi knowledge on a distant planet.
During the game, players will tell the Game Master what they would like to do. The Game Master will then assign a number of Purple Die determined by the difficulty of the task at hand. The circumstance of this particular task may be augmented by the players and Game Master. Black Die are added for negative influences like a harsh environment, and Blue Die are added for positive influences like aid from another player. Players then add a number of Yellow and Green Die determined by their character sheet. Success and Failure symbols are compared, and interpreted to describe the outcome. |
